Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

I know most of you have heard this scripture once or twice. Most references to this scripture are used to get people to attend church more regularly. I would like to use it to encourage us to stay in touch with people, visit people if possible.

My parents had a lot of acquaintances while I was growing up and some close friends. As they got older, they stopped communicating with close friends as much and that left them alone. One thing I have learned, that we should stay in touch with people, close friends and acquaintances. Everyone needs encouragement, everyone needs person contact, everyone needs to feel important.

When Covid hit, relationships were strained, visitations were limited. Church services were set aside in many cases to keep people safe, but thank God we have computers, cell phones, and IPads.

We can stay in touch, we can virtually visit and even have church services, doing away with excuses to stay in touch. Paul says; “Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

People need people, Christians need other Christians especially as the day of the Lord approaches. I believe the world is getting worse by the day and the day of the Lord will be soon. Stay in touch, love, laugh, encourage!

Prayer:
Father, when others won’t stay in touch, help me to do the right thing and stay in touch with them, despite if they choose to return the favor.
