Romans 12:9 ESV
“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.”

I was in a group almost ten years ago that I thought were true genuine friends. I left the group and naturally thought that my friends would stay my friends even though I moved on to pursue other interests that I felt very strongly about.

Most of my friends in that group did not remain my friends. Genuine love is hard to come by. My wife and I have a genuine love for one another. I have friends that have continued being my friends for years, we share a genuine koinonia type love.

The second command of Paul is to abhor what is evil. Abhor means that something disgusts you. The way society is playing with the minds of our children and grandchildren disgusts me. We live in a society that is truly confused about who they are and who they are supposed to be and they want to drag our young to be the same way as they are.

Luke 21:34-35 says, “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with…(the) cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth.”

Our young are being confused about themselves, their gender, their education and their faith. Abhore the evil in this world, hate the sin, not people, hate their influencer the devil.

Paul’s last command; “hold fast to that which is good.” God is good, His Son and the Holy Spirit, His word is good and His people are good (those who hold fast to the teachings of Jesus, And put them in practice every day.)

Prayer:
Father, let me be genuine today and show genuine love. Protect me from evil and do not let me run with sinners. Teach me to embrace all that is Yours.
