Mark 1:4-5 ESV
“Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

John the Baptist had been arrested only because the Jews hated him because of his popularity. Eventually Herod would kill John the Baptist as a favor to his wife because John the Baptist condemned her for her adulterous ways.

Sounds like the world we live in, hate the Christian make excuses for the wretched. Jesus immediately started preaching that the kingdom of God was near and in fact the kingdom of God was near. The kingdom of God was standing right in front of them

Jesus offers to His believers this kingdom living here on earth. This kingdom of God is allusive to the world. They can’t see it, they can’t understand it, they can’t feel it because they are not spiritually born of God. Those who are in Christ Jesus have the promise of Kingdom living here on earth. Jesus lives inside of us one day we will live in the Kingdom of God with Him forever.

Jesus said to the Pharisees, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed, nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.” (Luke 17:21)

Jesus was telling the Pharisees that He brought the kingdom of God to earth. They thought the Kingdom would come with much pomp and circumstance and that the Messiah would overturn the Roman rule and sit on the throne in Jerusalem.

He will do that one day, but for now, our King is Jesus and we are in His Kingdom and we have the ability to have kingdom living on earth. That is, we enjoy His favor, His dominion and power in our lives.

Prayer:
Father, I bow in awe of my King Jesus and I thank You for allowing me to be in Your Kingdom here on earth.
