John 4:25-26 ESV
“The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.”  Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.”

People always have their own opinion of who the Messiah is or will be.

This woman at the well seemed to think the Messiah would come and straighten out everyone’s thoughts and ideas. The two disciples on the road to Emmaus that He was going to overturn the Roman government.

The Pharisees rejected Jesus as Messiah because of His family origin. They rejected Jesus as Messiah because He claimed He was God’s Son. They rejected Jesus as Messiah because He did not fit in their plot and plan they thought the Messiah would sit on David’s thrown and it will be a time for peace all over the world.

The Jews, for the most part today, reject Jesus as Messiah because,

  1. The Messiah should have overturn the Roman government.
  2. The Messiah should have sat on David’s throne and ruled forever.
  3. The Messiah should given peace to the whe world.
  4. The Messiah would not come from human origin.

According to Isaiah, the Messiah would be from David’s lineage. He would rule forever, which He does spiritually, and He would be rejected and despised by many. He would be a man of sorrow and a suffering servant. He would be treated harshly. He would be arrested and sentenced to death and executed in a shameful way. (Isaiah 53).

Everyone has their reasons to believe or disbelieve that Jesus is the Messiah. In fact if you study all the prophecies of the Old Testament, Jesus is the Messiah. One day He will come, at the end of the tribulation, when the world is destroyed and made new, and the New Jerusalem comes down from heaven. He will sit on the thrown in Jerusalem forever. Their will be no more war and peace will abound.

Prayer:
Father, I accept Your Son as Savior, Messiah and Lord!
