The Spirit is Willing

Romans 8:11 ESV
“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.”

Most of the world is prompted by what their flesh says, if it wants food we feed the flesh, if it thirsts we give it something to drink. When the flesh wants recreation, we gladly give it recreation, if it wants to take a break from work, we gladly oblige.

The problem comes when our Spirit says it’s time to worship, we find a reason not too. If our Spirit says draw near to God, we give God 2 minutes. If our Spirit says it’s time to go to church the flesh says it’s OK, take a week off and go to the beach, you can find God there.

You get the pitcure, compromise is what the flesh is all about. If anything can comes up when it is time for God, it will come up and make a convincing argument. The most important opportunity for us as Christians is taking time to strengthen our Spirit, taking time for God.

Prayer:
Father forgive us for not being stronger than the flesh. Forgive us for not taking GOOD time for You. Forgive us that the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. (Matthew 26:41) Strengthen us by helping us to subdue the flesh in time of devotion and worship and follow the prompting of the Spirit.
