Love Covers All

1 Corinthians 13:7 ESV
“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Love bears all things: The word for bears can also be translated covers. 1 Peter 4:8 says, “And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Our true love bears or covers all things. This means we do not stay annoyed with someone, we learn to let it go.

To “believe all things” means that we give others the benefit of the doubt. It means that we expect the best, that we are able to overlook the offences and failure of those that we love. “Believing all things” means we has an eye on the present.

To “hope all things” means that we never consider another to be a lost cause. It means that we never give up on each other, even when we see one another fall. “Hope of all things” means we have an eye on the future.

To “endure all things” means that we are willing to remain in difficult situations for the sake of one another, rather than seeking our own ease through escape. That means that we are willing to stand in there and take some abuse in the name of seeing each other through to the end like Christ has done for us again and again.

Prayer:
Lord, writing this make me feel like I have fallen short way too many times. You have loved me with unconditional love, I have loved others too many times conditionally. Teach me to love the way You love, to forgive the way You forgive and rekindle that love repeatedly.
