Matthew 5:13-14 NLT
“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”

Our role as Christians being the salt of the earth is to maintain the moral fiber in our areas of influence. We will preserve truth and justice and mercy. We will preserve the cause of Christ. We uphold the laws of God and His kingdom. We will be the strength that will preserve what is right and righteous.

There are plenty of people that skirt the fence, saying they are Christians but blurr the lines. Christ has said that we are “the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop.” That doesn’t mean that we seek attention, rather it means people will see our light and glorify God.

Jesus that day on the Mount of Olives did not set up secret agents, rather He gave them and us the light that lives in Him. Let His light shine as bright as it can shine.

Prayer:
Lord, that day on a hillside, 2000 years ago, You set a precedence, We are to be salt and light in a dark world. That’s how people are going to find You. If we are true to You, we will let our light shine in darkness so they can find their way to You.
