Luke 19:41-44 ESV
“And  when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it,  saying, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace But now they are hidden from your eyes.”

As Jesus approached Jerusalem and thought of all those lost souls, “He saw the city and wept.” Jesus cried aloud in anguish over the future of the city.

In AD 70 more than 1,000,000 residents of Jerusalem died in one of the most gruesome sieges in recorded history. Jesus could see the future of Jerusalem and it tore His heart in two. He said, “(If you) had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.”

A phrase that speaks of the people’s inability to know and understand the truths of God. It’s not much different today, so many people have heard the truths of God yet they do not see the things that will bring them peace and contentment. We are driven to accomplish our own agendas, see our own course and expect God to bless us in our own endeavors. That’s not the way it works, God has a perfect plan for each and everyone of us, And it would be in perfect peace if we would let Him have His way in our lives.

Prayer:
Father, I know you see my future. You know the paths I will choose, so, I look to you. You know what will bring me peace, much better than I know myself what will bring me peace. Help me Father to listen intently to your words, to understand and know the way I should choose.
