A Miracle for the Books

Luke 8:22-25 ESV
“One day He (Jesus) got into a boat with His disciples, and He said to them,  “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” So they set out, and as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger.

And they went and woke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And He awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm.  He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even winds and water, and they obey Him?”

This miracle has a few interesting points; Jesus was tired, even though He is God, He was still human. He slept so soundly that even a raging storm tossing the boat didn’t wake Him up. I want that kind of sleep!!!

The disciples were in such fear that they thought they were going to die, yet they had the master of the universe in reach, amazing! Jesus may have woke up abruptly but He went into action quickly and rebuked the wind and waves and immediately the storm stopped it’s raging. IMMEDIATELY! Then He turned to His disciples in amazement and asked them where their faith was…

I actually think Jesus wondered why they didn’t do the same thing that He did. The apostles’ lack of faith reminds us that even those who lived and walked with Jesus, saw His miracles, and heard His message still found it difficult to be 100 percent faith-filled all the time.

Whatever the tragedy or extreme situations we face, He is able to deliver. But my question for us today is, how close are we to the Master, how much faith do we have? Or are we in such fear, we only think about the fear and not the power that resides inside of us through Jesus Christ.

Prayer:
Lord, forgive me for forgetting who lives inside of me. I have all the power of the universe right inside of me, why should I fear?
