Extreme Favor

1 Samuel 18:14 ESV
“And David had success in all his undertakings, for the Lord was with him.”

David was chosen by God as the next King. God had already turned away from Saul, the first king, because of his rebellion against God. God had His hand on David and He blessed David greatly in all that he did for God.

I know some are thinking, “David did not do everything perfect,” and they would be correct, David was still human as we are, we fail sometimes. But what David did for God, God blessed him and anointed him and put His approval on David.

In the beginning of Job, God and Satan were having a conversation about Job, this is what Satan observed about Job; “Have You not put a hedge [of protection] around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands [and conferred prosperity and happiness upon him], and his possessions have increased in the land.” (Job 1:10 AMP)

Now David may have been a mighty king but he was still subject to the flesh at times, but he didn’t let that keep him from doing great things for God and becoming “a man after God’s own heart.” David found a way to please God with his life and that is what he pursued.

Job was a righteous man, but if you read the book of Job, he complained a lot about fairness and judgment. Job also found a way to please God even through a very tough ordeal that some believe went on for just a short time. But the memories do not easily go away do they?

Of all of Job’s ordeals the painful memories probably never went away, but he found a way to move on past the pain and bad memories. For us, we can please God, first by being men and women after God’s heart. We can find extreme favor from God by trusting, obeying and seeking Him continuously… if we want to find His extreme favor that is!

Prayer:
Lord, not just a quick devotion, not just a little short folding of the hands to pray, not just giving You a few glances in my day will buy me extreme favor. From early in the morning to my last thoughts at bedtime I want to include You in every aspect of my day and evening. Lord, help to walk and talk with You all day long. I know you will bless the labor of my hands and my relationships and my ministries. I look to You all day long!
