Philippians 4:12-13 ESV

“I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”

We can be like Paul if we choose to; We can be content in the situations that we face, if they are unavoidable. We can learn how to be satisfied with little and we can learn to be humble when we experience abundance. We can learn to be trusting when things are going wrong, and we can be thankful when things are going well.

We often demand our own way or we want to control the things around us. It’s in these times that we should give Jesus control, because He has our best interests at heart. If things need to be changed in our lives, we take a page from Paul’s play book; We listen to the Spirit, we act with grace and we press on. We can do all things, ALL things, through Jesus who gives us the strength to carry on.

Prayer:
Father, I have had a lot of ups and downs in my life. Often I have demanded my own way, and I have paid the penalty for my stubbornness and attitude about life. The times of plenty has shown me that times are easy when I trust You, and I lean on You. I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me!
