Psalms19:13-14 NLT
“Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”

If you follow David’s vein of thought, he asked God to keep him from intentional sin. That’s the actions we know is wrong but we decide to do them anyway.

David says, “keep your servant from deliberate sins!” -In other words, don’t let me take advantage of Your goodness. “Don’t let them (deliberate sins) control me.” In otherwords give me self-control. (One of the fruits of the Spirit.) And of course when we deliberately sin the next thing is something that is not of God- guilt.

Satan will tell us we are not worthy of God, that we are just sinners and we will never ever escape that life style. The last thing David says is, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you…”

Let our speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt. (Colossians 4:6) Our words should express, tolerace, grace and kindness and not be judgmental and harsh. David then calls God his Redeemer. A redeemer is someone who repays, recovers and saves. In Christianity Jesus is our Redeemer. He redeemed us from sin and condemnation.

Prayer:
Father, for this devotion, I can pray no better prayer than this prayer. Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”
