Keeping Pure

Psalms 119:9-10 ESV
“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!”

Whether we are young or we just think we are young, God’s word is the antidote for staying pure in a world full of impurity and upheaval. I always get a laugh when people say stuff like, “I don’t read the Bible much because I don’t understand it.”

My answer is, there are 450 translations of the Bible. 100 of those are in English, don’t tell me you can’t find a translation you can’t understand. I have also heard that the Bible was outdated and antiquated.

I have studied, not just read, but studied, the bible for 46 years. Still I’m amazed of the relevance of God’s word for daily living. Plus I see new things every day in God’s word. The secret? Read it for revelation and inspiration not just information.

I read the Bible for five years between 12 and 19 because I was told to, that was information. Then one beautiful night at 19, I discovered it all made sense, then I started reading the Bible for revelation and inspiration.

Prayer:
Father, Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my pathway. I will follow Your words.
