Words of Wisdom
1 Corinthians 2:10-13 ESV
“These things (the things that God has prepared for us) God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.”
The subject matter of these verses is the hidden wisdom. This hidden wisdom is only hidden from those who are NOT apart of God’s family. When we come to God through Jesus Christ, confessing our sins, asking Him into our life, and we begin living for Him, The Father, through His Spirit reveals the wisdom that we need. He reveals everything that has been freely given to us by God.
The words we begin to speak and teach to one another in the Lord are inspired by the Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:13) See the pattern here; Jesus said that He did not speak on His own authority, He spoke what the Father told Him.
Jesus told His disciples, that the Holy Spirit will remind us of His words and now we speak wisdom from the Holy Spirit. (John 14:26) It all fits in a unique pattern.
Lord, never let me speak idle words or words that I conceive in my own mind, but only words divinely ispired by the Spirit. Those words will be words of wisdom, those words will be words for an abundant life.
