2 Peter 1:3,5,7 ESV

“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness… For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with brotherly affection…”

The idea of brotherly affection is we become motivated to do good for each other. This is supposed to come from a sense of connectedness. This is the type of connection experienced in the closest of families. And, truly, our brothers and sisters in Christ are our family.

Peter calls us to “make every effort” to develop a family affection for each other. Hard as it may be at times, we should strive to really “like” each other, and love each other so that we want to do good for one another.

Prayer:
Father, we have enough bitterness and strife in this world. So, help me love and appreciate my brothers and sisters in Christ. Meet together with them, help them when they need help and help me to be one they can count on.
