Genesis 18:10-14 ESV
“The Lord said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him.  Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in years. The way of women had ceased to be with Sarah.  So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “After I am worn out, and my lord is old, shall I have pleasure?” The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord?”

When Sarah doubted that God could perform this miracle, it didn’t stop the miracle but we still talk about Sarah’s lack of faith and lack of trust for God to provide, thousands of years later. Why was Sarah’s story so monumental?

Abraham and Sarah had been promised a child and their decendants would be as numerous as the stars. Sarah became impatient and told Abraham to sleep with her servant Hagar so she could have a child through Hagar. So, Hagar bore a son Ishmael. Then when God provided the child of promise through Sara, she had a son Isaac, a contention was formed between Sarah and Hagar and Sarah had Abraham banish Hagar and Ishmael.

I know most of our doubts and inpatients do not usually have this kind of impact but they will affect our lives and sometimes the lives of our children and our children’s children. Wait on God, don’t try to make things happen in your time and your way. What God promises, He will deliver.

Prayer:
Father, teach me to wait on You, You will make a way even if it seems impossible.
