People Do Not Like to be Wrong

Acts 6:9-10 ESV
“Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and disputed with Stephen.  But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking.”

When satan could not destroy the New Testament church from without, he changed his tactics and tried to destroy the New Testament church from within. As we will see in the records of Acts, that didn’t work either.

When we know the Word of God and the will of God, and we proclaim it with confidence, yes some will be offended but many will come to the Lord. It’s a chance that has to be taken.

Stephen was preaching Jesus and yes he was leading people away from their religion of the Temple. Basically, the Jews considered the Temple as the only place to meet God, but since Jesus’s sacrifice, that was no longer true, it was no longer the only place to meet God.

Did that change the traditions of Moses and the Jewish fascination and traditions? Yes! Was it worthy of lying, false accusations and death to Stephen? Certainly not. Preach, teach and witness of Jesus and Him crucified and raised from the dead, will it upset people? Obviously! Will it win some? Most certainly!

Prayer:
Father, I can only tell the truth, let my light shine, give You glory, and preach and teach Jesus. The only way back to You Father is through Jesus. I don’t mean to offend, but I will not be silent. “They overcame by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony and they loved not their lives unto the death!” (Revelation 12:11)
