Psalms 69:13-14 ESV
“But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord.  At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness. Deliver me from sinking in the mire; let me be delivered from my enemies and from the deep waters.”

David naturally and wisely turned to God when he felt like all the world was against him. He would seek God and make his prayer to the One who would hear in the multitude of His mercy. With poetic repetition, David returned to the image of him drowning.

Most of us have been there, at the point in our lives where we feel like we are drowning or sinking in quick sand. The character that I like in David is that no matter how low he felt, no matter how defeated, no matter how great the enemies were that came against him he knew how to get into the presence of God. God was his help, God was his life ring when he was drowning,

God was who he put his hope and trust in and he knew beyond the shadow of doubt that God was going to rescue him. Why did David have such confidence in God? Because God had been his rescue thousands of times. David wasn’t a person that messed up all the time but he did find himself in bad situations a lot!

Prayer:
Father, this morning I look to You. Be my hope, my strength and my deliverer. Keep me from drowning in the problems of this life.
