Good Judgment

Psalms119:65-66 NLT
“You have done many good things for me, Lord, just as you promised. I believe in your commands; now teach me good judgment and knowledge.”

David’s example of prayer is impeccable; praise God first, then ask for things that we need. In verse 65 David says basically, You promised and You have delivered God. Then in verse 66 David asks for something the I need and the world needs; good judgment or common sense.

Good judgment or common sense should come from God. From what I have seen people on their own doing and their own thinking is not sound judgment, not even close to common sense. God given common sense could change the world, stop arguments, put people on the same page, unity may even occur.

David also asks for knowledge. Knowledge from God is powerful, this knowledge starts in God’s Word. The more we stay in God’s word, the more knowledge we obtain. Not just knowledge of God’s word but knowledge of His love, attributes and character. You and I should seek His knowledge first.

Knowledge is power, but the right knowledge is extremely important. The only way to know the right and wrong side of knowledge is starting in God’s word.

Prayer:
Lord, we look to you the Author and Finisher of our faith, we seek after You, we praise You for Your wonderful works. Today give us Your knowledge and Your common sense.
