Pass It On

Exodus 10:1-2 ESV
The Lord said to Moses, “Go back to the king. I have made him and his officials stubborn, so that I could work these miracles.  I did this because I want you to tell your children and your grandchildren about my miracles and about my harsh treatment of the Egyptians. Then all of you will know that I am the Lord.”

Pharoah was a brutal dictator overseeing the terrible abuse and oppression of the Israelites, who likely numbered close to two million people at that time. The Egyptian Pharaohs had enslaved the Israelites for 400 years.

Pharoah ordered that male Israelite babies be killed at birth. This Pharaoh God hardened was an evil man, and the nation he ruled agreed with, or at least did not oppose, his evil actions. It could be that, as a result of Pharaoh’s hard-heartedness, God hardened Pharaoh’s heart even further, allowing for the last few plagues and bringing God’s full glory into view. Pharaoh and Egypt had brought these judgments on themselves.

God’s motive? He did this because He wanted them to tell their children and their grandchildren about what He had done for them. God is still working today. Not many people ooh and awe about a beautiful sunrise or a beautiful sunset and stop and thank God for it.

Not many make it home safely at the end of the day and thank God for His protection. Not many that are blessed with home, finances, family and other things we take for granted and think, “God has blessed me extremely.”

Sometimes it has to be drastic or dramatic before we say, “thank You God.” We need to tell our children and grandchildren of the greatness of God for all His blessings and benefits. That’s called testifying. It’s as easy as telling someone about a beautiful morning that you experienced.

Most of this generation is asleep about the things of God. The next generation may not recognize Him at all if we do not speak up about all that God has done for us.

Prayer:
Father, I’m amazed at Your handy work, I’m amazed at Your forgiveness and love and mercy. Never let me be silent of all You have done and will do for Your children.
