The Spirit of the Lord

Luke 4:18-19 ESV
““The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Jesus stood in the temple and read this passage from Isaiah concerning Himself. This passage was written hundreds of years before Jesus was born in Bethlehem, but the time of God’s fulfillment was this very moment.

As Jesus was standing in the temple fulfilling this prophecy, it wasn’t just for that moment or for the three and a half years that Jesus ministered on this earth, no, it was for all times and forever after this point.

He has the same delivering power to deliver us from whatever may have us captive today. He is just as strong today over two thousand years after this moment in the temple. He can still remove the oppression, to heal, to restore, to build up, to strengthen, to enlighten our hearts and lives.

The same Lord, the same power. His power never fades, never grows old, never dwindles, never stops. He is still bringing you and I good news, just like He did that day in History.

He is the same Lord, the same Savior, the same conquering hero to you and me and He will be the same tomorrow and the next day and forever. Reach out to Him, He cares for you and me!

Prayer:
Thank You Lord Jesus for being the same two thousand years ago, the same yesterday, today and forever! In Your name Lord Jesus, we give our lives to You, Amen!
