1 Samule 17: 37 ESV
“And David said, “’The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine…”‘

I don’t know if you ever really thought about what David said in this passage but what He was testifying to King Saul about, was how God gave him super human strength as a young boy. David’s brothers disdained him because he was just a kid and a shepherd.

I’m sure his brothers did not believe his stories. King Saul was patronizing David, Saul didn’t care about David’s exploits, he just wanted to save his own skin. No one in Saul’s army wanted to fight Goliath, why not sacrifice a young boy just to see what would happen.

Goliath disposed David because he felt humiliated that a shephard boy came to fight a great warrior. So, David went out to meet Goliath, forgetting about his brother’s and what they said about him, and forgetting about the doubt of the King.

David left the throne room of the king with only God on his side. He had no fear, God worked supernatural wonders for him twice, he knew God would do it again, especially with a formidable enemy like Goliath who was a giant, a blasphemous Phillistine.

As David headed to meet Goliath, he stopped and picked out 5 smooth stones from a brook. At this moment, David was calm and cool headed. He was not in this for prestige, he was in this to avenge the name of God.

David said to Goliath, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”

When David met the enemy that was twice his height,
David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. David, empowered by God, prevailed over the Philistine. A lesson from David the boy is, God can do anything, through anyone, at any time, any way He wants to, especially supernaturally!

Prayer:
Father, work through me to do great and mighty things for You!
