Faithful Service

1st Thessalonians 1:2-3 ESV
“We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers,  remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Paul told the church at Thessalonica that he was praying for them. Remembering especially their; Work of faith” – or your work produced by faith. Faith should be more than a mental assertion, it has to be followed by work. James says that faith without works is dead. When we have faith to believe, but we work for the Lord.

“Labor of love” -your labor that was the result of your love. It means we don’t seek compensation for our prayers and labor. We labor for the kingdom because we love the Lord with all our heart, whether there is any praise or compensation.

“Steadfastness of hope” -your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ and His eminent return. We hope until it is fulfilled. We don’t grumble, complain because we know it will arrive soon, we just keep moving forward.

Prayer:
Lord, I pray you find me with great faith, but working for Your glory. I pray I’m continually giving You my labor of love and unswerving in my hope of Your coming and fulfilling Your will in my life.
