The Residual Glory of God

Exodus 33:18-19 ESV
“Moses said, ‘Please show me your glory.’ And He (God) said, ‘I will make all My goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you My name ‘The LORD.’”

Moses asked to see the glory of God. Moses did not really know what he was asking for, because to see the glory of God would be overwhelming. When God showed Moses a portion of His glory, Moses came down the mountain and His face was so bright that the people could not look at his face. They put a veil over his face until the glow passed away.

I’m sure each of us have stories of when we have seen the glory of God in some facet or another in our experiences. I have one that I will never forget: I was just nineteen years old, and I had started working in a church in South Florida. I had a friend, Mickey that had come to know the Lord in that church.

One night after the Sunday evening service, Mickey wanted to go back to the church long after the service was over. I had the ability to get into the church, so I agreed.Mickey declared that He just wanted to worship one more time. As we entered the sanctuary, the lights were all off and we walked into the sanctuary just a few steps. The presence of the Lord was so strong that Mickey and I fell on our faces and cried out to God in praise and worship.

We talked a bit afterword and we said to one another, “this was just a residue of the glory of God from the evening service.” I know now that that glory of God never fades except in our own minds when we get away from His glory and go back to our daily routines. Don’t allow the glory to fade, stay in His presence!

Prayer:
Oh, the glory of Your presence Lord, may that glory ever reside in my heart and life. Let me be a reflection of Your Glory Lord God Almighty. In the precious name of Jesus I ask, Amen!
