God With Us

Philippians 2:6-8
“…Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.  And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

Jesus emptied Himself, from the ancient Greek, the word emptied (kenosis) came the idea that Jesus’ incarnation was essentially a self-emptying. Understand, Jesus did not (and could not) become “less God” in the incarnation. No deity was subtracted rather humanity was added to His nature.

The privileges of heaven He put aside for a time, but He was still fully God, and at birth fully man. This new incarnation gave Him the ability, the authority, and nature to lead mankind back to God. Why did He empty Himself of the privileges of heaven? So, He could make a way for you and me to come into right relationship with a Holy God.

The only way to accomplish this task was for God to come as an infant, a child, a man so that all mankind would accept Him and find eternal life through Jesus. He was fully God, but because He went through, what we have gone through, was qualified to lead us to the Father.

Prayer:
Father, I cannot imagine the Creator of the universe, the Supreme Authority, the Master and Maker of all things present and things to come, Coming to this earth to lead us back to You. That completely boggles my mind that You love us that much!
