Divine Favor

Proverbs 16:7 ESV
“When a man’s ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”

What does it take to please the Lord? Having faith pleases the Lord! Since Hebrews 11:6 (ESV) states; “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

Obeying the Lord pleases Him. Isaiah 1:19 (ESV) says, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land…”

Being obedient comes with promises as well. God told Israel if they would just obey Him in the new land that they were going into, they would be provided with abundant sustinance. Doing God’s perfect will is another way of pleasing the Lord. 1 Peter 2:15 says, “For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.”

Doing good pleases the Lord. It is His perfect will and as a bonus we silence the foolishness of foolish people. I like that!

These are just three things that please the Lord. Our passage today say, When we please the Lord, we gain peace with those who oppose us. That’s Divine favor.

Prayer:
Lord, let all our ways please You today. I pray that we walk in integrity today, fulfilling Your perfect and pleasing will.
