True Peace

Matthew 5:9 NKJV
“Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons (and daughters) of God.”

Peacemakers are those who promote God’s peace. This particular word for peace is taken from the Hebrew word shalom, which can be defined as total or complete wellbeing—both personally and communally.

In this statement, Jesus is stating that those who put their faith in Him and actively pursue peacemaking will receive the eternal reward of being called children of God, as they reflect the Father’s character of peace and unity. God is the supreme peacemaker and, as we are making peace, we show ourselves to belong to God’s family.

Jesus laid down His life to make peace between God and sinners, Those who bring reconciliation to broken relationships are carrying on the work of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

There is no real peace apart from a relationship with God. Worldly peace is merely a temporary lull in chaos. True peace is found only in a restored relationship with God.

Prayer:
Lord, I live in a world that the only peace that they know is a lack of conflict, and that rarely happens. You give peace that passes all understanding, the kind of true peace only your children can know. Make me a peace maker! Guide me so I can guide others to true peace.
