It’s A Connection Thing

John 15:4-5 NLT
“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit.”

Put yourself in the place of Jesus. His disciples have no concept of what is about to happen as Jesus’s ministry is now heading to His death and resurrection. He has told them what is going to happen but not in detail, they would never be able to understand all that is about to happen to Him.

So He does the best thing He can as His hour closes in, He tells them how to get the most out of this life. He tells them to stay connected to Him. With Him, no longer being in their company physically, staying connected with Him would be Jesus living through them. It was a perfect plan, it was a perfect concept. Allow Jesus to live in them and through them, they would be able to carry on the work, reaching the lost.

Just for clarity, He tells them, if they do not allow Him to live in and through them, they cannot bear lasting fruit, good fruit, perfect fruit. But if they keep Him alive in their hearts and minds, they will be able to bear fruit, a lot of fruit, perfect fruit. In fact they will be able to touch the whole world through their witness, through their memories of Jesus and what He taught. Their witness and testimony has touched the whole world.

Prayer:
Lord, I know to be affective and to do a great work for You, I have to remain in You and You in me. Use me Lord to touch the lost to bring those who have wondered from the faith. Use me Lord to bear much fruit. In Your name Lord, Amen.
