The Lord Knows Your Heart

1 Samuel 16:7b ESV
“For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Explanation:
A person’s innermost desires are often times difficult to decipher. Yet, it’s no secret that God knows our hearts. People often misjudge us, and they make snap decisions based on what we do or don’t do, say or don’t say. I know we have to deal with people on a day-to-day bases, but we don’t have to let them determine our lives based on personalities.

Often times people make us feel inferior or subordinate and I know there are some that say they don’t care what people think, I’m just not one of those people. I like for people to feel the best about me, know my strengths and qualities and appreciate them. God is the ultimate one that we have to please, because at best human nature is deceptive.

Proverbs says, “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.” (Proverbs 21:2 ESV) We can try to be a lot of things but God still sees the heart and where it is leading us.

Jeremiah writes, “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”  (Jeremiah 17:10 ESV)

In light of what Jeremiah said of our Lord, how are we to go about life and even in our hearts and minds where no one sees? How are we to act and think? If we are going to reap a reward for our actions and the actions of our hearts and minds, should they not be pleasing to God? And if they are pleasing to God, will they not be pleasing to man, for the most part?

Prayer:
Lord, we represent You, if we call ourselves Christians. We want people to see Jesus through our actions and reactions, and in order to do that, help us to get our hearts and minds in tune with Yours. In Your name Lord, Amen!
