Becoming Deaf to the Enemy
1 Samuel 17:10-11
“And the Philistine Goliath said, ‘I defy the ranks of Israel this day. Give me a man, that we may fight together.’ When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.”
The Bible says that our enemy is like a roaring lion seeking who he can devour. Lions are territorial, they roar to proclaim their dominance. They also want others to know who they are and how powerful they are. Our roaring lion, the enemy, likes to scare us to believe that he is more powerful than our God and that he is coming for us.
A lion rarely warns his enemy that he is coming, he likes to stalk and surprise the prey. Like Goliath, big and strong, he had a loud mouth and a prideful heart. He thought he was invincible, little did he know that a shepherd boy half his size was going to knock him down and cut off his head.
Never be like Saul and his men, never fear the noise of the enemy. Our Victor is so much greater than he is. Never fear his taunts and his loud mouth that tells you lies of who he is and what he can do to you, he is the father of all lies. He was defeated at Calvary and at the empty tomb. That victory cannot be taken away. That victory is forever.
Prayer:
Lord, help us to become deaf to the enemy’s taunts and loud roars. He is a liar and the father of all lies. You Lord are all powerful, Yours is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever. I choose to hear You Lord and not the taunts of the enemy. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
