“To acquire wisdom is to love yourself…”

Gaining wisdom, which is applying the knowledge that you receive and putting it into action, means that you love yourself.  I think that’s pretty sound advice.  By getting knowledge and putting it into practice, that knowledge becomes wisdom.  That shows that you truly want to succeed.
