Lead me On Level Paths

Psalms 27:11 ESV

“Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies.”

I know that it may be humorous, but when I first read this passage this morning, I thought of all the Indiana Jones movies where he seemed to know the right things to do in his quest. By design of the writers, he knew the right instruments to use, and the right methods to utilize them.

Our God is much better at this of course than Indiana Jones’s character, because He knows all and He sees all and He knows the outcome before we ever begin our quest. Knowing that God already knows the outcome of the day is encouraging. He is reliable to direct our paths, as we follow Him closely. Much like we did as a child when we walked behind our fathers in unfamiliar territory.

Asking God to teach us His ways should be a prayer every morning, because His way is the right way. Level paths are what we need because the enemy is always trying to trip us up in one fashion or another, but God’s level paths thwarts the enemy’s cause.

Prayer:

Lord, teach us Your ways this morning. As we navigate life today, walk with us, hold our hand, and make level paths for us, or clearly marked places for us to follow You. In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
