Revitalization

Hosea 10:12 ESV

“Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until He comes and showers His righteousness on you.”

This is a powerful message from the God to Israel in Hosea. God’s command was for them to return to Him, but with the command came  blessings and promises if they would obey the Lord. This is a powerful word imagery that can reach anyone’s heart if they choose to obey God by returning to Him.

Sow righteousness for yourselves, (actively cultivate a life that pleases God.) Reap the fruit of unfailing love, (God’s mercy and unwavering faithfulness and love are the rewards for those who choose to seek Him with their whole heart.)

Break up your unplowed ground; (Unplowed ground is land that has been left uncultivated and unproductive. “Breaking it up” represents a deliberate effort to turn away from complacency and prepare our hearts and minds for all that God has for us.)

For it is time to seek the Lord, (A call of urgency and importance of turning to God.) Until He comes and showers His righteousness on you. (God’s promise to those who truly and actively seek Him and prepare their hearts for Him. His blessings is far more than we can imagine. God has ways to bless us for our obedience that will boggle the mind.)

Prayer:

Lord, this morning we break up the ground in our hearts, minds and spirits that has laid dormant. Places that we thought were ok, but it is time to cultivate our lives to receive all that You have for us. We sow righteousness, peace and joy. In return we receive the fruit of Your unfailing love and unwavering promises. Revive us again oh Lord. In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
