Building Up

1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV

“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”

We are living in troubled times. A lot of people that we know are discouraged, or depressed, possibly angry, aggravated, restless, living in fear or troubled. We feel like sometimes that we need to be encouraged, how can we encourage others when we need it? The best answer I have for that is what we have heard for years in the church, give out of your own needs. What that means is, when we are troubled or discouraged, we find someone else that needs to be encouraged and encourage them. We may not receive from those same people encouragement, but I guarantee when we do it with pure motives, we will receive encouragement from the Lord in the way of blessings, healing, restoration and peace.

This morning, we do not need to spend time thinking about our own problems, that’s not going to help us. What will help us if we find someone else that needs a blessing, a kind word, a warm message and give them what they need to lift them up. God will then, in due time, give us the encouragement and help that we need.

Prayer:

Lord, open our eyes this morning not to our own needs and troubles, but to others that need a lift from us. Use us Lord to carry out Your work in the lives of others. In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
