I Am Not Afraid

Psalms 3:3 ESV
“But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.”

According to David, God was his shield, his protector from all that is not of God. Yes, his enemies still tried to destroy him, that never stop until he died. For us, God shields us from the firey arrows of satan. Yes we can still see the attacks coming, but God is our shield and vindication to keep us safe.

God was David’s Glory. That means that God was everything to David. God overshadowed everything else in David’s life. You could say that God carried more weight than anything else in David’s life.

Put his kingdom on one side of the scale and God on the other, no comparison. Put his friends on one side of the scale and God on the other, no comparison. God out weighed everything in his life.

David also said that God was the lifter of his head. That meant that all that David went through in his life, the disappointments and troubles that caused him to bow his head in sorrow, God was the one he could count on to bring him out of sorrow and depression.

God can and is the same for us; a shield that surrounds us, nothing can get through unless God allows it, and He only allows what will bring us closer to Him. He is the one and only that we can count on for EVERY situation in this life, and He is the one that lifts our head and countenance when life does hit us hard.

Prayer:
Father, today be our surrounding shield. Be our Glory, the most important thing in our life, the only one we can count on to see us through in every situation! Be the one that lifts up our head today if things do not go our way. We trust in You! In Your name Father, Amen.
