Love and Faithfulness
Psalms 86:15 ESV
“But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.”
This is the God that I know now. As a child, I knew God, but He was very different than what I know now. Because of the influences of the church, I saw God as a child as a judgmental God, but He is truly a God of love and mercy.
Catch the words of the Psalmist when he says that God is slow to anger, which means that he does not react like human beings do when they get angry about something. Then the Psalmist says that God is abounding in steadfast love. That means that God is overflowing with, or possessing in great abundance, a love that will never stop pursuing us. He will never stop loving, never act unseemly, never walk out and never give up on us.
The Psalmist includes in this dynamic love of God that God is abounding in faithfulness. What does that kind of faithfulness look like? The kind of faithfulness like we have never seen or experienced. His faithfulness is so extreme even when we fail Him or act out, He still calls us His pride and joy.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You do not treat me like I deserve, but You love me with an everlasting love, an undying love, a love that will never end. Thank You for showing me faithfulness like none other that I have ever seen or experienced. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
