Mourning into Dancing

Psalms 30:11-12 ESV

“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing Your praise and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever!”

Mourning to dancing was a concept that David knew well. David found himself down at times, but it was not long until he was glad again. David knew the way back to the mountain top experience.

Jesus said,” Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. In the Kingdom of God, there is restoration.

David said that God had loosed his sackcloth. The best way for me to describe sackcloth is to say it would be like wearing a burlap sack. David said that God removed the sign of morning (sackcloth) and clothed him with gladness so he would be free to sing praise and glory to God.

God does that with us, when we accept it. Even if He doesn’t remove every reproach from us, He brings joy even in the middle of sorrows and times of pain. It’s no secret, God favors His children and has ways to bring them peace and joy in the middle of troubles. It is a blessing of God.

Prayer:

Lord, this morning we worship You no matter what is going on around us. We know that You will cloth us with praise even if we have on garments of gloom for now, they will be removed and we will praise You. Our trust is in You Savior. We praise you with every fiber of our being. In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen!
