Seeking
Psalms 34:4
“I sought the Lord, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”
Seeking God can be casual or intense. Hopefully everyone seeks the Lord everyday whether it is having a casual conversation with God or we are diligently seeking Him, like Jehoshaphat did in 2 Chronicles 20.
Jehoshaphat got himself into trouble by hanging around with the wrong guy. Then when he least expected it, an army was coming against him and Jerusalem to destroy them. The Bible records in 2 Chronicles 20: 3 that Jehoshaphat “set himself to seek the Lord.” In other words, this wasn’t a casual prayer, this was an urgent prayer.
Sometimes our prayers look like that but let me give some light to this entreaty of God; don’t beg God, go to God, state your case and trust God. He has a perfect will, He knows exactly what to do. He is not surprised by our troubles, no, instead He sees them coming and wants us to seek Him and trust Him.
Prayer:
Lord, sometimes trouble comes just because we are living in a fallen world. Sometimes trouble comes because You are trying to get our attention. Sometimes trouble comes because You want to show us how You can deliver, and sometimes troubles come because we got off the path that You set before us. In these times, we seek Your face, sometimes casually, sometimes in urgency. Hear us, and deliver us from ALL of our fears please. In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
