As Unto the Lord

Colossians 3:23-24 ESV

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”

This is the best rule of thumb in anything that we do, whether it is working a job or ministering to someone’s needs. Whether it is cleaning the house or testifying of the goodness of God. Whether it is singing in the choir or doing our daily devotion with God. doing our very best in whatever we do will give us the blessings from God.

All the years that I had employees working for me, very few gave me their best, very few honored God with the work of their hands. I had a few that I can still remember that did work well but most of them treated the job like it was a necessary evil instead of something they should excel in. I will barrow the phrase, “If it is worth doing, it is worth doing right.” I will add to that, “and do it as if doing it unto the Lord.”

Prayer:

Lord help us to do every task as if You were standing next to us, not as a task master, but as someone who cares how we appear to others and the work that we do is well pleasing to You. In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
