Success in Disasters
Genesis 39:19,20,23 ESV

“As soon as his (Joseph’s) master heard the words that his wife spoke to him, “This is the way your servant treated me,” his anger was kindled. And Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined… But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

The keeper of the prison paid no attention to anything that was in Joseph’s charge, because the Lord was with him. And whatever he did, the Lord made it succeed.”

Now this may not be a big deal to some, to be shown favor in prison, but Joseph was almost immediately put in charge of much of the prison. If Potiphar really thought that Joseph tried to seduce his wife, he would have had Joseph killed. But beyond that, Potiphar had great admiration of Joseph. I believe Potiphar believed Joseph more than his wife, but he had to do something to bring vindication for his wife.

We live in a world where, when bad things happen to people, they have to tweet about it or make a video or put it on Facebook about how wrong their circumstances are. Then people react and get angry and make the person who posted even more angry and everything esculates out of control and it leaves no place for God to do some really great miracles.

When bad things happen, pause, allow God to give wisdom, and then give God time to move people and circumstances, that can’t be an easy job.

Prayer:
Father, how many times have I not let You have room to create a miracle in my bad situations. How many times have I whinned and complained and stopped Your hands from moving on my behalf. God help me to help You, by giving You room to work!
