Don’t Lose Heart

Genesis 40:20-23 ESV
“On the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, (after Joseph interpreted the cupbearer and baker’s dreams) he (Pharaoh) made a feast for all his servants and lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and…baker… He restored the chief cupbearer to his position, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.  Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.”

We all would like for people to do the right thing, but human nature doesn’t always work that way. When people get what they want, and we have helped them get what they want, sometimes they quickly forget our help. But really, where does our help come from anyway? Our help comes from the Lord.

Joseph didn’t have any choice in the matter, so he got on with life, being in charge in the prison. We don’t know exactly how he reacted but I have to surmise with his character, he did what he needed to do to keep moving forward. Whether that was doing his job in the prison to the best of his ability, or looking for new opportunities to get out.

We can learn some valuable lessons from Joseph. He didn’t sit in the corner and sulk or refuse to help anyone ever again. He kept going, otherwise, we would not be reading his story thousands of years later.

Prayer:
We all agree, life is not always fair, but then again, Your Son told us that in this world we would have trubulation, we would see suffering for doing good. Sustain me, strengthen me, I do not fight alone, with You by my side and in my heart, I can do anything!
