Salvation Is a Journey

Philippians 2:12 AMP

“So then, my dear ones, just as you have always obeyed [my instructions with enthusiasm], not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation [that is, cultivate it, bring it to full effect, actively pursue spiritual maturity] with awe-inspired fear and trembling [using serious caution and critical self-evaluation to avoid anything that might offend God or discredit the name of Christ].

Paul is telling the church at Philippi to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling…” (Galatians 2:12 ESV) How exactly does that work? The Amplified gives some great suggestions to this working out our salvation or walking out our salvation daily. We put our faith into action. We mature in our walk, learning how to study the scriptures, learning how to pray, learning how to be a witness for Jesus. The Amplified versions also suggests self-evaluation and avoiding anything that may offend God.

Self-evaluation is great for our Christian walk, as well as it will help us in relationships. Avoiding the things that displease God should be a daily guide. We have God’s word, we know what pleases God and what displeases Him. In fact, the more we please God, the more He blesses us.

Prayer:

Lord, in our daily journey, our first quest should be to please You. Help us to grow daily in Spirit and in truth. Helps us to strive to walk and talk with You daily and to be a great representation of You to the world. In Your name Lord Jesus we ask, Amen!
