Called

Ephesians 4:1-3 ESV
“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

If we have been born again, we have a calling. It may not be for preaching or teaching but it is a calling. Actually, we cannot be Christians unless we serve in some way. It may or may not be in a church setting, but as Christians we have an honor of representing Jesus our Savior in the world.

I realize that not all want to put themselves out there to testify openly. We live in a world where we can call, email, text or use social media. However we choose be a witness, we have plenty of mediums to be a faithful witness.

There should not be any silent Christians. Paul says that we should walk worthy of the calling, to be worthy is to be affective in whatever way possible. Paul also says that we need to be humble, gentle, patient, loving and lovable.

I know most of the guys that I know just checked out on those qualifications. I guarantee those qualities reside in each and everyone of us, we just have to find them and let them out. It doesn’t mean that we are weak or wimpy. I guarantee Paul was not weak or wimpy. He put up with a million times more that we have, and still loved the church as anyone would love one of their children.

The last thing Paul tells us is that we have to be EAGER to maintain the unity within the church. Also, within our families and within our circle of friends and proposed new friends that we will win to the Kingdom of God.

Prayer:
Lord, Let my life be a light shining out through the night, may I help struggling ones to the fold.  Spreading cheer everywhere to the sad and the lone, let my life be a light to some soul.
