More Than Conquerors

Romans 8:35,37 ESV
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

I know in this life there are a lot of things that come our way to keep us distracted long enough so that we cannot see the hand of God moving in our lives. Just because we get distracted, that doesn’t mean God is not moving things around in our lives to show us He cares, and that He loves us and He is providing the victory that we so desperately need.

God is not just bringing us a victory, Paul says in this verse that God will make us more than conquerors. That is not just a win, that is a win with blessings.

In one instance in the Old Testament, God was punishing Israel for their disobedience and wickedness. A destroying army was approaching to destroy Israel but the army fled their own camp when God caused them to hear the sounds of a great army coming. It was not a great army but it was just a few men walking but God worked a miracle and caused the enemy to flee.

Israel was struggling through a famine at the time and God provide for their families through no act of their own (2 Kings 7) Not only were they saved from an approaching army, but they benefited from the enemy and took up more than they thought was possible.

That is being more than a conqueror. Even in a time when God is trying to teach us a lesson He provides and sends His love.

Satan is our adversary. He sends all kinds of life-defeating, joy-stealing attacks but Paul is encouraging us to stand firm in our faith when those attacks come, reminding us that not only will we win in the end, but Jesus enables us to win now. Satan lacks the power to steal our eternal destiny, and he cannot separate us from the love of God.

Nothing we face worries God in the least. If we hold on to His promises He will bring the victory with blessings.

Prayer:
Lord, nothing, absolutely nothing can seperate us from Your love. Because of Your great love, I will be still and allow You to take control and make me more than a conqueror.
