God’s Approval

Matthew 5:6 ESV
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

3 things come to light in this passage: 1) What is the righteousness of God, 2) desiring the righteousness of God more than anything else. 3) What does it take to be completely satisfied.

1) In its deeper spiritual meaning, righteousness is the quality of being right in the eyes of God, including character (nature), conscience  (attitude),  conduct (action), and command (word). Righteousness is, therefore, based upon God’s standard, it is seeking God’s approval.

2) We go our whole life seeking satisfaction. But the only way to be completely satisfied in this life is to please God.

3) the only way, according to our passage, to find true satisfaction, is to want to please God, getting God’s approval more than anything else in our lives.

If we please Him we find true satisfaction. So we could read this verse like this. “Blessed (with true satisfaction in this life) are those who hunger and thirst (wanting Your approval with all that is in me) for righteousness (seek to only please God, getting God’sapproval), for they shall be satisfied, (they will find true satisfaction in every area of their lives).

Prayer:
Father, my desire is to seek You approval in my life, in my home, in our ministry. In seeking Your approval with all that is within me, I know I will find contentment and true satifaction.
