Because They Know Me and Love Me

Psalms 91:14-16 ESV
“Because he holds fast to Me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows My name. When he calls to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

“Because we stay with God in love”, these words used for love just happens to be the same type of love that God displayed for Israel. It is an agape love. It just so happens to be the same root word for love in John 3:16. It is the same type of love that Jesus asked Peter, do you love me in John 21 (with a self-sacrificing, eternal, pure love).

So, when we love God with this type of love we reap benefits from this relationship with God, because He loves us with the same type of love. God says that if we know His name, He will do all of these things for us. Do you know Him as Jehovah Jireh our provider, Jehovah-Rohi: The Lord My Shepherd, Jehovah-Rapha: The Lord Who Heals, Jehovah-Shalom: The Lord Who Is Peace?

If so, He will do this:

1. He says that He will deliver us.

2. He says that He will protect us.

3. He says that when we call, He will answer.

4. He says that He will be with us in trouble. Fighting on our behalf is the way I see this imagery.

5. He says that He will rescue us, and He does every day if we have that common love with Him.

6. He says that He will honor us. (“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.”) Psalms 23:5

7. He says that He will satisfy us with a long life.

8. He says that He will show us His salvation which He has done and does every day of our lives.

Prayer:
Father, I bow before You, You know my heart. You know if I love you unconditionally. I do know Your name father God because You have been all these names to me and more. I have seen Your hands of deliverance, grace and mercy. I confess I need You Father God, Amen!
