Who God Sees

Judges 6:11-12, 14-15 ESV
“Now the angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress to hide it from the Midianites. And the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, “The Lord is with you, O mighty man of valor.”

And the Lord turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?” And he said to him, “Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”

When the Lord sent His angel to Gideon, He knew what was in Gideon, long before Gideon knew what was in himself. Gideon told the angel, “my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” Basically he said, “I’m the youngest of my family and I am from the weakest group of Manasseh. I am not the one you are looking for.”

We know of course God did not make a mistake coming to Gideon. Even though Gideon was weak because he thought he was weak, God saw what Gideon was deep down inside himself.

God knows you and I better than we know ourselves. We may be weak, sick, useless in our own eyes, but God sees what potential we have for the Kingdom. Don’t say that you are weak. Don’t say that you are too old. Don’t say that you are too short, too tall or unqualified.

If God can take Gideon from hiding in a big hole in the ground to becoming a conquering hero in God’s strength. He can use you and I to move mountains, bring down the enemy, defeat giants, and destroy armies.

Prayer:
Father God, if You say I am strong when I feel weak, I will believe you. If you say I am a mighty man of valor, that is what I am. If you have called me to pray prayers of faith and defeat sickness and death, that is exactly what I can do through You. Whatever You say of me, I believe. In Your mighty name Lord God, Amen!
