Dueteronomy 31:6 ESV

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, (those who oppose you)  for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

When children are afraid of the dark, they always feel better when there is someone familiar in the room. Their fear subsides, and they calm down, they close their eyes to go to sleep in peace.

They know someone else is watching over them, someone is there to intervene in case fear strikes again. If they wake up in the middle of the night, and see darkness there is only a slight moment of concern because they know someone is there who loves them, that will not leave them alone.

It should be that way with us having God in our lives. When fear comes, perhaps in the form of life problems, work problems, relationship problems or financial difficulties, we look to the Father

Knowing He is there, our hearts should be at peace because we know He will always be with us and He will always fight for us and provide for our needs. Fear not, “it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Prayer:
Father, when my darkness comes and life gets tough, I look to You and I am at peace, knowing You are always there, and that You will never leave me alone. Thank You for being my rock and fortress, an ever present help in times of trouble.
