Greater is He That is in Me

1 Peter 5:8 NKJV
“Be sober, (self controlled) be vigilant (watchful);  because your adversary (opponent or enemy) the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

The first thing Peter addresses in this passage is that we have to be self- controlled, why? Satan has a hard time destroying the Christian that is self-disciplined and self- controlled. Typically his schemes do not work on a well rounded Christian that has balance and integrity.

He also has trouble disrupting the Christian that is on to his devices. They are alert, watching for the signs, the tricks, the petty things that Satan tries to get us tripped up with. No doubt, Satan is powerful, but he is not all powerful, he is cunning, but he typically tries the same old things over and over again.

He is not omnipresent, he can only be at one place at one time. We know his end, we know what will stop him, the name of Jesus. Fear not, Jesus has overcome the enemy, he was defeated 2000 years ago and he is still defeated today.

Prayer:
Lord, I take up the shield of faith that is able to quench every fiery dart of satan. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.
