Psalms 71: 23-24 ESV

“My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed. And my tongue will talk of your righteous help all the day long…”

Archie was a young man when he came to know Jesus as Lord of his life. Archie would sit close to the front of the church every Sunday so he could watch and hear the choir sing, to him they sounded like angels. What he wanted most was to sing a song to the Lord, but Archie was mute due to an infection as a child. Archie could only vaguely remember being able to speak, but now more than anything he wanted to sing.

One day he came to the pastor with a friend who did sign language. Archie signed to the interpreter that he wanted the pastor to pray that he would be able to speak and sing. He wanted to be able to sing to the Lord a beautiful song. The pastor turned to Archie and said, “I will gladly pray with you to receive your voice Archie, but I need to tell you watching your face while the choir sings is as jubilant as any voice that can be heard. The Father hears your heart more than He hears your voice. God is a Spirit, worship Him in Spirit and in truth and I will be praying for the healing of your voice.
